What is mrxvt
mrxvt is:
Mrxvt is a multi-tabbed color vt102 terminal emulator for X Window system. It features multi-tab support, fast pseudo-transparent background, user supplied XPM/JPEG/PNG images for background, tinting, off-focus fading, text shadow, NeXT/Rxvt/Xterm/SGI/Plain style scrollbars, XIM and multi-languages (Chinese/Korea/Japanese), and logging.
Mrxvt does NOT require KDE or GNOME desktop environment.
This package contains mrxvt compiled with all available features.
There are three methods to install mrxvt
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mrxvt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mrxvt
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mrxvt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mrxvt
using apt

sudo apt -y install mrxvt
Install mrxvt Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mrxvt
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mrxvt
How To Uninstall mrxvt on Debian 9
To uninstall only the mrxvt
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mrxvt
Uninstall mrxvt And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mrxvt
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mrxvt
Remove mrxvt Configurations and Data
To remove mrxvt
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mrxvt
Remove mrxvt configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mrxvt
