How To Install mrbayes on Kali Linux

What is mrbayes

mrbayes is:

Bayesian inference of phylogeny is based upon a quantity called the posterior probability distribution of trees, which is the probability of a tree conditioned on the observations. The conditioning is accomplished using Bayes’s theorem. The posterior probability distribution of trees is impossible to calculate analytically; instead, MrBayes uses a simulation technique called Markov chain Monte Carlo (or MCMC) to approximate the posterior probabilities of trees.

There are three methods to install mrbayes on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mrbayes Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mrbayes using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mrbayes

Install mrbayes Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mrbayes using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mrbayes

Install mrbayes Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update
