How To Install mpir on Rocky Linux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install mpir
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is mpir
MPIR is a highly optimised library for bignum arithmetic forked from the GMP bignum library. It is written in assembly language and C. It is community maintained via the GitHub repositories of William Hart (Linux/OSX) and Brian Gladman (Windows). There are currently no curators for other platforms. MPIR is assembly optimised for various x86-64 CPUs. It is designed to be threadsafe.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install mpir
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mpir.
Install mpir on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install mpir
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install mpir
Install mpir on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install mpir
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install mpir
How To Uninstall mpir on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the mpir
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove mpir
