How To Install mpgtx on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install mpgtx
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is mpgtx
mpgtx is:
mpgtx is a tool to manipulate MPEG files. Its features include the following:
- mpgtx can currently split and join MPEG 1 video files and most MPEG audio files.
- mpgtx can fetch detailed information from MPEG 1 and MPEG 2.
- mpgtx can demultiplex MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 files (System layer, Program layer and Transport Layer).
- mpgtx can add, remove and edit ID3 tags from mp3 files and rename mp3 files according to their ID3 tags. It reads and writes ID3v1, but only reads ID3v2.
There are three methods to install mpgtx
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install mpgtx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mpgtx
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install mpgtx

Install mpgtx Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mpgtx
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mpgtx
How To Uninstall mpgtx on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the mpgtx
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mpgtx
Uninstall mpgtx And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mpgtx
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mpgtx
Remove mpgtx Configurations and Data
To remove mpgtx
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mpgtx
Remove mpgtx configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mpgtx
