How To Install mpd-sima on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install mpd-sima
on Debian 9.
What is mpd-sima
mpd-sima is:
MPD_Sima is a Python script meant to feed your MPD playlist with tracks from artists similar to your currently playing track, provided that these artists are found in MPD library. Similar artists are fetched from last.fm.
MPD_sima can queue track, top track or whole album for similar artists.
This client allows you to never run out of music when your playlist queue is getting short.
There are three methods to install mpd-sima
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mpd-sima Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mpd-sima
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mpd-sima
Install mpd-sima Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mpd-sima
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mpd-sima
Install mpd-sima Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mpd-sima
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mpd-sima
How To Uninstall mpd-sima on Debian 9
To uninstall only the mpd-sima
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mpd-sima
Uninstall mpd-sima And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mpd-sima
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mpd-sima
Remove mpd-sima Configurations and Data
To remove mpd-sima
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mpd-sima
