How To Install mosquitto on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install mosquitto on Kali Linux.
What is mosquitto
mosquitto is:
This is a message broker that supports version 3.1 and 3.1.1 of the MQTT protocol.
MQTT provides a method of carrying out messaging using a publish/subscribe model. It is lightweight, both in terms of bandwidth usage and ease of implementation. This makes it particularly useful at the edge of the network where a sensor or other simple device may be implemented using an arduino for example.
There are three methods to install mosquitto on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mosquitto Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mosquitto using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mosquittoInstall mosquitto Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mosquitto using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mosquittoInstall mosquitto Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mosquitto using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mosquittoHow To Uninstall mosquitto on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the mosquitto package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mosquittoUninstall mosquitto And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mosquitto and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mosquittoRemove mosquitto Configurations and Data
To remove mosquitto configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mosquittoRemove mosquitto configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mosquitto configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mosquittoDependencies
