What is mono-xbuild

mono-xbuild is:

Mono is a platform for running and developing applications based on the ECMA/ISO Standards. Mono is an open source effort led by Xamarin. Mono provides a complete CLR (Common Language Runtime) including compiler and runtime, which can produce and execute CIL (Common Intermediate Language) bytecode (aka assemblies), and a class library.

xbuild is Mono’s implementation of msbuild and allows projects that have a msbuild file to be compiled natively on Linux.

Microsoft Build (msbuild) is a build system developed by Microsoft similar in spirit to Nant (in that it uses XML files for describing the build process) and in the same spirit as make.

There are three methods to install mono-xbuild on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mono-xbuild Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mono-xbuild using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mono-xbuild

Install mono-xbuild Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mono-xbuild using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mono-xbuild

Install mono-xbuild Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install mono-xbuild using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install mono-xbuild

How To Uninstall mono-xbuild on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the mono-xbuild package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove mono-xbuild

Uninstall mono-xbuild And Its Dependencies

To uninstall mono-xbuild and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove mono-xbuild

Remove mono-xbuild Configurations and Data

To remove mono-xbuild configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge mono-xbuild

Remove mono-xbuild configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove mono-xbuild configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mono-xbuild
