How To Install monkeysphere on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install monkeysphere on Kali Linux.

What is monkeysphere

monkeysphere is:

SSH key-based authentication is tried-and-true, but it lacks a true Public Key Infrastructure for key certification, revocation and expiration. Monkeysphere is a framework that uses the OpenPGP web of trust for these PKI functions. It can be used in both directions: for users to get validated host keys, and for hosts to authenticate users. Current monkeysphere SSH tools are designed to integrate with the OpenSSH implementation of the Secure Shell protocol.

Monkeysphere can also be used by a validation agent to validate TLS connections (e.g. https).

There are three methods to install monkeysphere on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install monkeysphere Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install monkeysphere using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install monkeysphere

Install monkeysphere Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install monkeysphere using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install monkeysphere

Install monkeysphere Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install monkeysphere using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install monkeysphere

How To Uninstall monkeysphere on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the monkeysphere package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove monkeysphere

Uninstall monkeysphere And Its Dependencies

To uninstall monkeysphere and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove monkeysphere

Remove monkeysphere Configurations and Data

To remove monkeysphere configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
