What is mongrel2-run

mongrel2-run is:

Mongrel2 is an application, programming language, and network architecture agnostic web server that focuses on web applications using modern browser technologies.

Mongrel2 supports 17 languages and platforms, HTTP, Flash sockets, WebSockets, Long Polling, and many ways to deploy and hack on it.

This package includes the infrastructure needed to setup a standalone web server. Starting mongrel2 at boot is done using runit.

There are three methods to install mongrel2-run on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mongrel2-run Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mongrel2-run using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mongrel2-run

Install mongrel2-run Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mongrel2-run using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mongrel2-run

Install mongrel2-run Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install mongrel2-run using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install mongrel2-run

How To Uninstall mongrel2-run on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the mongrel2-run package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove mongrel2-run

Uninstall mongrel2-run And Its Dependencies

To uninstall mongrel2-run and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove mongrel2-run

Remove mongrel2-run Configurations and Data

To remove mongrel2-run configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge mongrel2-run
