How To Install mod_wsgi on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install mod_wsgi
on CentOS 7.
What is mod_wsgi
The mod_wsgi adapter is an Apache module that provides a WSGI compliant interface for hosting Python based web applications within Apache. The adapter is written completely in C code against the Apache C runtime and for hosting WSGI applications within Apache has a lower overhead than using existing WSGI adapters for mod_python or CGI.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install mod_wsgi
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mod_wsgi.
Install mod_wsgi on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install mod_wsgi
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install mod_wsgi
Install mod_wsgi on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install mod_wsgi
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install mod_wsgi
How To Uninstall mod_wsgi on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the mod_wsgi
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove mod_wsgi
