How To Install mlton-tools on Ubuntu 18.04

What is mlton-tools
mlton-tools is:
MLton is a whole-program optimizing compiler for Standard ML. MLton generates standalone executables with excellent runtime performance, is SML 97 compliant, and has a complete basis library. MLton has source-level profiling, a fast C FFI, an interface to the GNU multiprecision library, and lots of useful libraries.
This package includes tools which autogenerate SML.
There are three methods to install mlton-tools on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mlton-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mlton-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mlton-tools
Install mlton-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mlton-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mlton-tools
Install mlton-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mlton-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mlton-tools
How To Uninstall mlton-tools on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the mlton-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mlton-tools
Uninstall mlton-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mlton-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mlton-tools
Remove mlton-tools Configurations and Data
To remove mlton-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mlton-tools
Remove mlton-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mlton-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mlton-tools
