What is mingw32-readline
The Readline library provides a set of functions that allow users to edit command lines. Both Emacs and vi editing modes are available. The Readline library includes additional functions for maintaining a list of previously-entered command lines for recalling or editing those lines, and for performing csh-like history expansion on previous commands. This is a port of the library and development tools to Windows.
We can use yum or dnf to install mingw32-readline on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mingw32-readline.
Install mingw32-readline on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install mingw32-readline using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install mingw32-readline
Install mingw32-readline on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install mingw32-readline using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install mingw32-readline
How To Uninstall mingw32-readline on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the mingw32-readline package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove mingw32-readline
