What is mingw32-pcre

Cross compiled Perl-compatible regular expression library for use with mingw32. PCRE has its own native API, but a set of “wrapper” functions that are based on the POSIX API are also supplied in the library libpcreposix. Note that this just provides a POSIX calling interface to PCRE themselves still follow Perl syntax and semantics. The header file for the POSIX-style functions is called pcreposix.h.

We can use yum or dnf to install mingw32-pcre on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mingw32-pcre.

Install mingw32-pcre on CentOS 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install mingw32-pcre using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install mingw32-pcre

Install mingw32-pcre on CentOS 8 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install mingw32-pcre using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install mingw32-pcre

How To Uninstall mingw32-pcre on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the mingw32-pcre package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove mingw32-pcre
