How To Install micro-httpd on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install micro-httpd on Kali Linux.
What is micro-httpd
micro-httpd is:
A very small HTTP server implemented in 150 lines of code. Program can be used to serve HTTPS by wrapping it with stunnel. It implements all the basic features of an HTTP server, including:
- Security against “..” filename snooping
- The common MIME types
- Trailing-slash redirection
- index.html
- Directory listings
There are three methods to install micro-httpd on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install micro-httpd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install micro-httpd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install micro-httpdInstall micro-httpd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install micro-httpd using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install micro-httpdInstall micro-httpd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install micro-httpd using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install micro-httpdHow To Uninstall micro-httpd on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the micro-httpd package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove micro-httpdUninstall micro-httpd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall micro-httpd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove micro-httpdRemove micro-httpd Configurations and Data
To remove micro-httpd configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge micro-httpdRemove micro-httpd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove micro-httpd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge micro-httpdDependencies
