How To Install mftrace on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install mftrace
on CentOS 7.
What is mftrace
mftrace is a small Python program that lets you trace a TeX bitmap font into a PFA or PFB font (A PostScript Type1 Scalable Font) or TTF (TrueType) font. Scalable fonts offer many advantages over bitmaps, as they allow documents to render correctly at many printer resolutions. Moreover, Ghostscript can generate much better PDF, if given scalable PostScript fonts.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install mftrace
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mftrace.
Install mftrace on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install mftrace
using yum
by running the following command:

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
