How To Install metview on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install metview on Kali Linux.
What is metview
metview is:
Metview has been designed as a flexible, modular and extendible system able to accommodate the evolving needs of the user. The system is based on the ECMWF standards for graphics (Magics) and data access (MARS) but can also access locally stored data. The user interface is based on Motif and Qt. Metview is a fully distributed system where modules can run on different workstations and servers.
Metview is a cooperative project between ECMWF and INPE/CPTEC, Brazil. ECMWF has also been assisted by a staff member of M?t?o-France.
There are three methods to install metview on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install metview Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install metview using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install metviewInstall metview Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install metview using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install metviewInstall metview Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install metview using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install metviewHow To Uninstall metview on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the metview package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove metviewUninstall metview And Its Dependencies
To uninstall metview and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove metviewRemove metview Configurations and Data
To remove metview configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge metviewRemove metview configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove metview configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge metviewDependencies
