How To Install mender-cli on Ubuntu 20.04

on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is mender-cli
mender-cli is:
Mender is an open source over-the-air (OTA) software updater for embedded Linux devices. Mender comprises a client running at the embedded device, as well as a server that manages deployments across many devices.
This package contains a standalone tool that makes it much easier to work with the Mender server management APIs (https://docs.mender.io/apis/management-apis).
The goal with mender-cli is to simplify integration between the Mender server and cloud services like continuous integration (CI)/build automation.
There are three methods to install mender-cli
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mender-cli Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mender-cli
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mender-cli
Install mender-cli Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mender-cli
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mender-cli
Install mender-cli Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mender-cli
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mender-cli
How To Uninstall mender-cli on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the mender-cli
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mender-cli
Uninstall mender-cli And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mender-cli
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mender-cli
Remove mender-cli Configurations and Data
To remove mender-cli
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mender-cli
Remove mender-cli configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mender-cli
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mender-cli
