How To Install med-imaging on Ubuntu 20.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install med-imaging
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is med-imaging
med-imaging is:
This metapackage will install Debian packages which might be useful in medical image processing and visualization.
On one hand, it installs several packages supporting various image file formats and image management, like DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) which is the de-facto standard for medical image management, and NIFTI. On the other hand, it provides a variety of software packages that can be used for visualization and for image processing
- either from a graphical user interface, the command line, or implemented in workflows.
There are three methods to install med-imaging
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install med-imaging Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install med-imaging
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install med-imaging
Install med-imaging Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install med-imaging
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install med-imaging
Install med-imaging Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install med-imaging
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install med-imaging
How To Uninstall med-imaging on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the med-imaging
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove med-imaging
Uninstall med-imaging And Its Dependencies
To uninstall med-imaging
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove med-imaging
Remove med-imaging Configurations and Data
To remove med-imaging
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge med-imaging
Remove med-imaging configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove med-imaging
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge med-imaging
