How To Install mcp-plugins on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install mcp-plugins on Kali Linux.
What is mcp-plugins
mcp-plugins is:
MCP plugins implement a set of LADSPA plugins that vastly improve the sound of AlsaModularSynth.
Currently they consist of these plugins:
- Moog VCF (1-3): Moog lowpass filters that quite successfully emulate the properties of the analogue circuit. Version 3 of these filters is recommended.
- Phaser1: A phaser with up to 30 all-pass filters in series.
- Phaser1+LFO: The same as above, but with built-in LFO. LFO waveform can be continuosly changed from saw down to triangle and saw up.
- Chorus (1,2): Two chorus plugins.
There are three methods to install mcp-plugins on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mcp-plugins Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mcp-plugins using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mcp-pluginsInstall mcp-plugins Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mcp-plugins using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mcp-pluginsInstall mcp-plugins Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mcp-plugins using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mcp-pluginsHow To Uninstall mcp-plugins on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the mcp-plugins package we can use the following command:

To uninstall mcp-plugins and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mcp-pluginsRemove mcp-plugins Configurations and Data
To remove mcp-plugins configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mcp-pluginsRemove mcp-plugins configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mcp-plugins configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
