How To Install maxima on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install maxima on Kali Linux.
What is maxima
maxima is:
Maxima is a fully symbolic computation program. It is full featured doing symbolic manipulation of polynomials, matrices, rational functions, integration, Todd-coxeter methods for finite group analysis, graphing, multiple precision floating point computation. It has a symbolic source level debugger for maxima code. Maxima is based on the original Macsyma developed at MIT in the 1970s. It is quite reliable, and has good garbage collection, and no memory leaks. It comes with hundreds of self tests.
This package contains the main executables and base system files.
There are three methods to install maxima on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install maxima Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install maxima using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install maximaInstall maxima Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install maxima using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install maximaInstall maxima Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install maxima using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install maximaHow To Uninstall maxima on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the maxima package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove maximaUninstall maxima And Its Dependencies
To uninstall maxima and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove maximaRemove maxima Configurations and Data
To remove maxima configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge maximaRemove maxima configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove maxima configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge maximaDependencies
