What is matchbox-window-manager

Matchbox is a base environment for the X Window System running on non-desktop embedded platforms such as handhelds, set-top boxes, kiosks and anything else for which screen space, input mechanisms or system resources are limited. This package contains the window manager from Matchbox.

We can use yum or dnf to install matchbox-window-manager on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install matchbox-window-manager.

Install matchbox-window-manager on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install matchbox-window-manager using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install matchbox-window-manager

Install matchbox-window-manager on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install matchbox-window-manager using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install matchbox-window-manager

How To Uninstall matchbox-window-manager on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the matchbox-window-manager package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove matchbox-window-manager
