How To Install massxpert on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install massxpert on Debian 9.
What is massxpert
massxpert is:
massXpert is a program to simulate and analyse mass spectrometric data obtained on linear (bio-)polymers. It is the successor of GNU polyxmass.
Four modules allow:
- making brand new polymer chemistry definitions;
- using the definitions to perform easy calculations in a desktop calculator-like manner;
- performing sophisticated polymer sequence editing and simulations;
- perform m/z list comparisons;
Chemical simulations encompass cleavage (either chemical or enzymatic), gas-phase fragmentations, chemical modification of any monomer in the polymer sequence, cross-linking of monomers in the sequence, arbitrary mass searches, calculation of the isotopic pattern…
There are three methods to install massxpert on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install massxpert Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install massxpert using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install massxpert
Install massxpert Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install massxpert using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install massxpert
Install massxpert Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install massxpert using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install massxpert
How To Uninstall massxpert on Debian 9
To uninstall only the massxpert package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove massxpert
Uninstall massxpert And Its Dependencies
To uninstall massxpert and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove massxpert
Remove massxpert Configurations and Data
To remove massxpert configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge massxpert
