on CentOS 7.
What is mariadb
MariaDB is a community developed branch of MySQL. MariaDB is a multi-user, multi-threaded SQL database server. It is a client/server implementation consisting of a server daemon (mysqld) and many different client programs and libraries. The base package contains the standard MariaDB/MySQL client programs and generic MySQL files.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install mariadb
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mariadb.
Install mariadb on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install mariadb
using yum
by running the following command:

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
