How To Install mame on Ubuntu 18.04

What is mame
mame is:
MAME is a hardware emulator: it faithfully reproduces the behavior of many arcade machines (it is not a simulation). This program is not a game but can directly, through ROM images, run the complete system of these old arcade machines. These ROMs are subject to copyright and it is in most of the cases illegal to use them if you do not own the arcade machine.
This package provides the MAME binary and configuration files.
There are three methods to install mame on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mame Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mame using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mame
Install mame Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mame using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mame
Install mame Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mame using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mame
How To Uninstall mame on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the mame package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mame
Uninstall mame And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mame and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mame
Remove mame Configurations and Data
To remove mame configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mame
Remove mame configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mame configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mame
