How To Install mame-tools on Kali Linux

on Kali Linux.
What is mame-tools
mame-tools is:
MAME is a hardware emulator: it faithfully reproduces the behavior of many arcade machines (it is not a simulation).
This package provides tools to be used with MAME. It currently contains: castool – generic cassette manipulation tool for MAME chdman – MAME Compressed Hunks of Data CHD manager floptool – Generic floppy image manipulation tool for MESS imgtool – generic image manipulation tool for MAME jedutil – binary to/from JEDEC file converter ldresample – Laserdisc audio synchronizer and resampler ldverify – Laserdisc AVI/CHD verifier romcmp – ROM comparison utility program
There are three methods to install mame-tools
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mame-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mame-tools
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mame-tools

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mame-tools
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mame-tools
Install mame-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mame-tools
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mame-tools
How To Uninstall mame-tools on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the mame-tools
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mame-tools
Uninstall mame-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mame-tools
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mame-tools
Remove mame-tools Configurations and Data
To remove mame-tools
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mame-tools
Remove mame-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mame-tools
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mame-tools
