How To Install lzip on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install lzip on Kali Linux.
What is lzip
lzip is:
Lzip is a lossless data compressor based on the LZMA algorithm, with very safe integrity checking and a user interface similar to the one of gzip or bzip2. Lzip decompresses almost as fast as gzip and compresses better than bzip2, which makes it well suited for software distribution and data archiving.
There are three methods to install lzip on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lzip Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lzip using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lzipInstall lzip Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lzip using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lzipInstall lzip Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lzip using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install lzipHow To Uninstall lzip on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the lzip package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lzipUninstall lzip And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lzip and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lzipRemove lzip Configurations and Data
To remove lzip configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lzipRemove lzip configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
