How To Install lzd on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lzd on Kali Linux.
What is lzd
lzd is:
Lzip is a lossless data compressor based on the LZMA algorithm, with very safe integrity checking and a user interface similar to the one of gzip or bzip2. Lzip decompresses almost as fast as gzip and compresses better than bzip2, which makes it well suited for software distribution and data archiving.
Lzd is a very simplified decompressor for lzip files with an educational purpose. Studying its source is a good first step to understand how lzip works.
There are three methods to install lzd on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lzd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lzd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lzdInstall lzd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lzd using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lzdInstall lzd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lzd using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install lzdHow To Uninstall lzd on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the lzd package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lzdUninstall lzd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lzd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lzdRemove lzd Configurations and Data
To remove lzd configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lzdRemove lzd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove lzd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lzdDependencies
