How To Install lxrandr on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install lxrandr on Kali Linux.
What is lxrandr
lxrandr is:
LXRandR is a GUI application for the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE).
This is a very basic monitor config tool utilizing the X extension called RandR. It can let you change the screen resolution on the fly. Besides, when you run lxrandr with external monitor connected, its GUI will change, and show you some quick options to get your projector or external monitor working correctly.
This tool doesn’t aim to be a full randr frontend. If you need the full power of RandR, get xrandr (console) or grandr (GUI) and read some tutorials.
LXRandR only gives you some easy and quick options which are intuitive. It’s very suitable for laptop users who frequently uses projectors or external monitor and just want to get their work done without reading a lot of “geek-centered” manuals or command line tutorials.
There are three methods to install lxrandr on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lxrandr Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lxrandr using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lxrandrInstall lxrandr Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lxrandr using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lxrandrInstall lxrandr Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lxrandr using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install lxrandrHow To Uninstall lxrandr on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the lxrandr package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lxrandrUninstall lxrandr And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lxrandr and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lxrandrRemove lxrandr Configurations and Data
To remove lxrandr configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lxrandrRemove lxrandr configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove lxrandr configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lxrandrDependencies
