What is lxqt-archiver
lxqt-archiver is:
LXQt Archiver is an archive manager for the LXQt environment. It allows you to:
- Create and modify archives.
- View the content of an archive.
- View a file contained in an archive.
- Extract files from the archive.
LXQt Archiver supports the following formats:
- Tar (.tar) archives, including those compressed with gzip (.tar.gz, .tgz), bzip (.tar.bz, .tbz), bzip2 (.tar.bz2, .tbz2), compress (.tar.Z, .taz), lzip (.tar.lz, .tlz), lzop (.tar.lzo, .tzo), lzma (.tar.lzma) and xz (.tar.xz)
- Zip archives (.zip)
- Jar archives (.jar, .ear, .war)
- 7z archives (.7z)
- iso9660 CD images (.iso)
- Lha archives (.lzh)
- Single files compressed with gzip (.gz), bzip (.bz), bzip2 (.bz2), compress (.Z), lzip (.lz), lzop (.lzo), lzma (.lzma) and xz (.xz)
LXQt Archiver doesn’t perform archive operations by itself, but relies on standard tools for this.
This package contain the LXQt archiver.
There are three methods to install lxqt-archiver
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lxqt-archiver Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install lxqt-archiver
using apt-get

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install lxqt-archiver
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lxqt-archiver
Install lxqt-archiver Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install lxqt-archiver
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install lxqt-archiver
How To Uninstall lxqt-archiver on Debian 12
To uninstall only the lxqt-archiver
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lxqt-archiver
Uninstall lxqt-archiver And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lxqt-archiver
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lxqt-archiver
Remove lxqt-archiver Configurations and Data
To remove lxqt-archiver
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lxqt-archiver
