How To Install lxde on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install lxde on Kali Linux.
What is lxde
lxde is:
The Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE) is a project aimed to provide a desktop environment which is lightweight and fast.
This package is a metapackage depends on the core components and recommended components of the LXDE. It includes lxde-core, lxappearance, lxinput, lxsession-edit, gpicview, lxterminal, lxrandr, galculator, mousepad and xarchiver.
If you just want to pick and choose the LXDE components then feel free to remove this package.
There are three methods to install lxde on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lxde Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lxde using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lxdeInstall lxde Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lxde using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lxdeInstall lxde Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lxde using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install lxdeHow To Uninstall lxde on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the lxde package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lxdeUninstall lxde And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lxde and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lxdeRemove lxde Configurations and Data
To remove lxde configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lxdeRemove lxde configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove lxde configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lxdeDependencies
