How To Install lxde on Debian 9

What is lxde

The Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE) is a project aimed to provide a desktop environment which is lightweight and fast.
This package is a metapackage depends on the core components and recommended components of the LXDE. It includes lxde-core, lxappearance, lxinput, lxsession-edit, gpicview, lxterminal, lxrandr, galculator, leafpad and xarchiver.
If you just want to pick and choose the LXDE components then feel free to remove this package.
There are three methods to install lxde
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lxde Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install lxde
using apt-get

To uninstall only the lxde
package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove lxde
