This modules provides a pure Lua memcached driver implementation for the embedded nginx’s Lua interpreter.
Because this module is based on the ngx_lua’s cosocket API, it inherits the advantage of a real nonblocking behaviour running effectively on the underlying nginx server ultra-fast technology design, allowing Web developers making use of the Lua programming language to script and construct extremely high-performance web applications capable to handle 10K+ connections.
Note that this module works for both nginx (provided by nginx-extras) and the OpenResty bundle.
There are three methods to install lua-nginx-memcached
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lua-nginx-memcached Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install lua-nginx-memcached
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lua-nginx-memcached

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install lua-nginx-memcached
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lua-nginx-memcached
Install lua-nginx-memcached Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install lua-nginx-memcached
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install lua-nginx-memcached
How To Uninstall lua-nginx-memcached on Debian 12
To uninstall only the lua-nginx-memcached
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lua-nginx-memcached
Uninstall lua-nginx-memcached And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lua-nginx-memcached
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lua-nginx-memcached
Remove lua-nginx-memcached Configurations and Data
To remove lua-nginx-memcached
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lua-nginx-memcached
Remove lua-nginx-memcached configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove lua-nginx-memcached

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lua-nginx-memcached
