How To Install lua-luv on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lua-luv on AlmaLinux 8.
What is lua-luv
This library makes libuv available to lua scripts. It was made for the luvit project but should usable from nearly any lua project. The library can be used by multiple threads at once. Each thread is assumed to load the library from a different lua_State. Luv will create a unique uv_loop_t for each state. You can’t share uv handles between states/loops. The best docs currently are the libuv docs themselves. Hopefully soon we’ll have a copy locally tailored for lua.
We can use yum or dnf to install lua-luv on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lua-luv.
Install lua-luv on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lua-luv using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lua-luv
Install lua-luv on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lua-luv using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install lua-luv
How To Uninstall lua-luv on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the lua-luv package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lua-luv
