How To Install lua-hamlib on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install lua-hamlib on Kali Linux.

What is lua-hamlib

lua-hamlib is:

Most recent amateur radio transceivers allow external control of their functions through a computer interface. Unfortunately, control commands are not always consistent across a manufacturer’s product line and each manufacturer’s product line differs greatly from its competitors.

This library addresses that issue by providing a standardised programming interface that applications can talk to and translating that into the appropriate commands required by the radio in use.

This package provides the Lua bindings of the library.

There are three methods to install lua-hamlib on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install lua-hamlib Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-hamlib using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install lua-hamlib

Install lua-hamlib Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-hamlib using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install lua-hamlib

Install lua-hamlib Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-hamlib using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install lua-hamlib

How To Uninstall lua-hamlib on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the lua-hamlib package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove lua-hamlib

Uninstall lua-hamlib And Its Dependencies

To uninstall lua-hamlib and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove lua-hamlib

Remove lua-hamlib Configurations and Data

To remove lua-hamlib configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge lua-hamlib

Remove lua-hamlib configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove lua-hamlib configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lua-hamlib
