How To Install lua-dbi on CentOS 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install lua-dbi on CentOS 8.
What is lua-dbi
LuaDBI is a database interface library for Lua. It is designed to provide a RDBMS agnostic API for handling database operations. LuaDBI also provides support for prepared statement handles, placeholders and bind parameters for all database operations. Currently LuaDBI supports DB2, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite databases with native database drivers.
We can use yum or dnf to install lua-dbi on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lua-dbi.
Install lua-dbi on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install lua-dbi using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install lua-dbi
Install lua-dbi on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install lua-dbi using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lua-dbi
How To Uninstall lua-dbi on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the lua-dbi package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lua-dbi
