What is lua-cgi

lua-cgi is:

CGILua is a tool for creating dynamic Web pages and manipulating input data from Web forms. CGILua allows the separation of logic and data handling from the generation of pages, making it easy to develop web applications with Lua.

CGILua requires a SAPI implementation to work. The lua-wsapi packages provides a few ready to use SAPI implementations.

This package also contains the documentation for the Lua CGI library.

There are three methods to install lua-cgi on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install lua-cgi Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-cgi using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install lua-cgi

Install lua-cgi Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-cgi using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install lua-cgi

Install lua-cgi Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-cgi using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install lua-cgi

How To Uninstall lua-cgi on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the lua-cgi package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove lua-cgi

Uninstall lua-cgi And Its Dependencies

To uninstall lua-cgi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove lua-cgi

Remove lua-cgi Configurations and Data

To remove lua-cgi configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge lua-cgi

Remove lua-cgi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove lua-cgi configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lua-cgi
