How To Install lua on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install lua on CentOS 7.
What is lua
Lua is a powerful light-weight programming language designed for extending applications. Lua is also frequently used as a general-purpose, stand-alone language. Lua is free software. Lua combines simple procedural syntax with powerful data description constructs based on associative arrays and extensible semantics. Lua is dynamically typed, interpreted from bytecodes, and has automatic memory management with garbage collection, making it ideal for configuration, scripting, and rapid prototyping.
We can use yum or dnf to install lua on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lua.
Install lua on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install lua using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install lua
Install lua on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install lua using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lua
How To Uninstall lua on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the lua package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lua
