What is lshw
lshw (Hardware Lister) is a small tool to provide detailed informaton on the hardware configuration of the machine. It can report exact memory configuration, firmware version, mainboard configuration, CPU version and speed, cache configuration, bus speed, etc. on DMI-capable x86s systems and on some PowerPC machines (PowerMac G4 is known to work). We can use yum or dnf to install lshw on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lshw.
Install lshw on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install lshw using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install lshw
Install lshw on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install lshw using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lshw
How To Uninstall lshw on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the lshw package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lshw
