What is log4cxx
Log4cxx is a popular logging package written in C++. One of its distinctive features is the notion of inheritance in loggers. Using a logger hierarchy it is possible to control which log statements are output at arbitrary granularity. This helps reduce the volume of logged output and minimize the cost of logging.
We can use yum or dnf to install log4cxx on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install log4cxx.
Install log4cxx on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install log4cxx using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install log4cxx
Install log4cxx on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install log4cxx using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install log4cxx
How To Uninstall log4cxx on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the log4cxx package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove log4cxx
