How To Install lnav on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lnav
on AlmaLinux 8.
What is lnav
lnav is an enhanced log file viewer that takes advantage of any semantic information that can be gleaned from the files being viewed, such as timestamps and log levels. Using this extra semantic information, it can do things like interleaving messages from different files, generate histograms of messages over time, and providing hotkeys for navigating through the file. It is hoped that these features will allow the user to quickly and efficiently zero in on problems.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install lnav
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lnav.
Install lnav on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lnav
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lnav
Install lnav on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lnav
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install lnav
How To Uninstall lnav on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the lnav
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lnav
