In this tutorial we learn how to install lldpd
on CentOS 7.
What is lldpd
LLDP is an industry standard protocol designed to supplant proprietary Link-Layer protocols such as EDP or CDP. The goal of LLDP is to provide an inter-vendor compatible mechanism to deliver Link-Layer notifications to adjacent network devices.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install lldpd
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lldpd.
Install lldpd on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install lldpd
using yum
by running the following command:
Install lldpd on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
