How To Install live-config on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install live-config on Debian 12.
What is live-config
live-config is:
The Debian Live project maintains the components to build Debian based Live systems and the official Debian Live images themselves.
live-config contains the components to configure a live system during the boot process (late userspace).
In addition to live-config, a backend for an init system is required, such as live-config-systemd.
There are three methods to install live-config on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install live-config Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install live-config using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install live-config
Install live-config Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install live-config using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install live-config
Install live-config Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install live-config using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install live-config
How To Uninstall live-config on Debian 12
To uninstall only the live-config package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove live-config
Uninstall live-config And Its Dependencies
To uninstall live-config and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove live-config
Remove live-config Configurations and Data
To remove live-config configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge live-config
Remove live-config configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove live-config configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge live-config
