How To Install live-clone on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install live-clone on Kali Linux.

What is live-clone

live-clone is:

This application allows one to make bootable USB sticks from an iso-hybrid image issued by Live-Build. It adapts additionally a persistence partition to use the free space on the USB stick.

It features also management tools for live USB sticks: when such USB disks are used daily, they happen to have inconsistencies in their persistence area which can render them unusable. Tools are provided to save persistence data when necessary, and to blank the persistence area, so the USB disk can be used again.

The application detects when it is run from a Debian-Live environment, thus featuring seamless auto-cloning.

There are three methods to install live-clone on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install live-clone Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install live-clone using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install live-clone

Install live-clone Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install live-clone using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install live-clone

Install live-clone Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install live-clone using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install live-clone

How To Uninstall live-clone on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the live-clone package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove live-clone

Uninstall live-clone And Its Dependencies

To uninstall live-clone and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove live-clone

Remove live-clone Configurations and Data

To remove live-clone configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge live-clone

Remove live-clone configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove live-clone configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge live-clone
