How To Install live-boot on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install live-boot on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is live-boot
live-boot is:
The Live Systems project maintains the components to build Debian based Live systems and the official Debian Live images themselves.
live-boot contains the components to configure a live system during the boot process (early userspace). Do not install this package on your regular system, it is only meant to be used in a live image.
In addition to live-boot, a backend for the initrd generation is required, such as live-boot-initramfs-tools.
There are three methods to install live-boot on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install live-boot Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install live-boot using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install live-boot
Install live-boot Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install live-boot using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install live-boot
Install live-boot Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install live-boot using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install live-boot
How To Uninstall live-boot on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the live-boot package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove live-boot
Uninstall live-boot And Its Dependencies
To uninstall live-boot and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove live-boot
Remove live-boot Configurations and Data
To remove live-boot configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge live-boot
Remove live-boot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove live-boot configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge live-boot
