How To Install light on Ubuntu 22.04

What is light

Light is a useful tool to control display brightness in lightweight desktops or window managers that do not have bundled applications for this purpose.
Most modern laptops have moved away from hardware controlled brightness and require software control. Light works where other software has proven to be unreliable, e.g. xbacklight. It can even be used from the console as it does not rely on X.
Light has features like setting a minimum brightness value, as well as saving and restoring the brightness at reboot and startup.
There are three methods to install light on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install light Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install light using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install light

After updating apt database, We can install light using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install light
Install light Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install light using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install light
How To Uninstall light on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the light package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove light
Uninstall light And Its Dependencies
To uninstall light and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove light
Remove light Configurations and Data
To remove light configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge light
Remove light configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
