What is libygl4

libygl4 is:

Ygl is an graphics library that emulates the routines of SGI’s GL (sometimes called IRIS GL). Please note that GL is different from OpenGL. Ygl is very simple to use, and very fast. The 2D routines are built around the standard X11 libraries and reported to be faster than GL itself. This release will also work with FORTRAN code and has been built with 3D support. The library therefore requires the use of the OpenGL libraries.

This package provides the runtime library.

There are three methods to install libygl4 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libygl4 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libygl4 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libygl4

Install libygl4 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libygl4 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libygl4

Install libygl4 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libygl4 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libygl4

To uninstall only the libygl4 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libygl4

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libygl4

To remove libygl4 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libygl4
