How To Install libxmp on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install libxmp on CentOS 7.
What is libxmp
Libxmp is a library that renders module files to PCM data. It supports over 90 mainstream and obscure module formats including Protracker (MOD), Scream Tracker 3 (S3M), Fast Tracker II (XM), and Impulse Tracker (IT). Many compressed module formats are supported, including popular Unix, DOS, and Amiga file packers including gzip, bzip2, SQSH, Powerpack, etc.
We can use yum or dnf to install libxmp on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libxmp.
Install libxmp on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libxmp using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libxmp
Install libxmp on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libxmp using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libxmp
How To Uninstall libxmp on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the libxmp package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libxmp
