What is libxml2

libxml2 is:

XML is a metalanguage to let you design your own markup language. A regular markup language defines a way to describe information in a certain class of documents (eg HTML). XML lets you define your own customized markup languages for many classes of document. It can do this because it’s written in SGML, the international standard metalanguage for markup languages.

This package provides a library providing an extensive API to handle such XML data files.

There are three methods to install libxml2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libxml2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libxml2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libxml2

Install libxml2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libxml2 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libxml2

Install libxml2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libxml2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libxml2

How To Uninstall libxml2 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libxml2 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libxml2

Uninstall libxml2 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libxml2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libxml2

Remove libxml2 Configurations and Data

To remove libxml2 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libxml2

Remove libxml2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libxml2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libxml2
