How To Install libxc5 on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libxc5 on Kali Linux. libxc5 is Library of Exchange-Correlation Functionals

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libxc5 on Kali Linux.

What is libxc5

libxc5 is:

LibXC is a library of exchange-correlation (XC) functionals for density-functional theory (DFT). The aim is to provide a portable, well tested and reliable set of exchange and correlation functionals that can be used by other codes. Supported XC functionals include:

  • Local Density Approximation (LDA) functionals including Slater exchange, and VWN, Perdew-Zunger or PADE correlation.
  • Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA) XC functionals including PBE, PW91, BLYP, HCTH93, HCTH120, HCTH147, HCTH407, as well as B88 exchange and LYP or P86 correlation.
  • Hybrid XC functionals including B3LYP, PBE0, B97, X3LYP, BHANDH, HSE03 and HSE06.
  • Meta-GGA XC functionals including TPSS, M05 and M06.

There are three methods to install libxc5 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libxc5 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libxc5 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libxc5

Install libxc5 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libxc5 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libxc5

Install libxc5 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libxc5 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libxc5

How To Uninstall libxc5 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libxc5 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libxc5

Uninstall libxc5 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libxc5 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libxc5

Remove libxc5 Configurations and Data

To remove libxc5 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libxc5

Remove libxc5 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libxc5 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libxc5

Dependencies
