How To Install libx86-dev on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libx86-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libx86-dev
libx86-dev is:
A library to provide support for making real-mode calls x86 calls. On x86 hardware, vm86 mode is used. On other platforms, x86 emulation is provided.
This package contains the development files for libx86.
There are three methods to install libx86-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libx86-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libx86-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libx86-devInstall libx86-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libx86-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libx86-devInstall libx86-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libx86-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libx86-devHow To Uninstall libx86-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libx86-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libx86-devUninstall libx86-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libx86-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libx86-devRemove libx86-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libx86-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libx86-devRemove libx86-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libx86-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libx86-devDependencies
